Questioning and Checking for Understanding<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Learning is an alteration in long-term memory, so assessing whether students have learned something within a lesson is almost impossible. However, we should constantly be checking that students have understood what we have taught them. This allows us to make better decisions about crucial issues, for example, the specific students we need to target for intervention, the knowledge we need to re-teach, and when our students are ready to move onto a new topic.
